The Health & Nutrition Seminar -- a very informative women's health issues session presented by AASRA on March 20, 2004, was well attended by an enthusiastic audience who listened attentively, took notes, and asked many questions for the two capable health-care expert professionals-- Dr. Purnima Sangal and Sangeeta Pradhan. Dr. Sangal provided an astute checklist that we, women would do well to use at our next physical exam. In the second half of her presentation, Purnima defined pelvic pain, providing clarification on the impact and diagnosis of diseases related to the symptoms of acute pain versus chronic pelvic pain, elaborating on endometriosis and its treatment. Dr. Sangal also addressed the complementary topics of menopause with its impending cardio-vascular changes, and osteperosis with its risk factors; and the right diagnosis and treatment recommendations for both sets of health issues.

Sangeeta Pradhan's very relevant presentation entitled "Take Nutrition to Heart" addressed heart plaque formation-- risk factors and plaque accumulation process, the role of dietary factors in cardio-vascular disease, and a comprehensive review of nutritional basics related to weight loss-- separating fact from fallacy.
The session was followed by a very interactive Q&A which both Purnima and Sangeeta addressed patiently, extending their personal asistance via e-mail and in follow-on sessions. The AASRA survey completed by session attendees paid many compliments to the content and format of the event-- proof positive of a very successful education and awareness building agenda. Many thanks to Dr. Putnima Sangal and Sangeeta Pradhan for their time, effort, and enthusiasm.
If you missed the event, please feel free to download the seminar presentation
