AASRA had a banner year in 2004! Some highlights—

We owe it all to your support! We wish to thank you, and we invite you to get involved with our many exciting 2005 initiatives. We continue to strive ahead in our mission to support and serve any South Asian woman in need, in our Greater Boston community. We want you on our team!

The AASRA Center continues very effectively, to deliver assistance to South Asian women to rebuild their lives after life-altering crises. The AASRA Center, located at 54 Cummings Park, Suite 316, Woburn, MA, is a walk-in facility for women of South-Asian origin seeking support and resource services in the areas of:

- Women and Family Health
- Family Law & Immigration
- Personal & Domestic Crisis

March Dateline —

AASRA 2005 Board
AASRA 2005 projects were kicked off with a very productive Board dinner-meeting on March 23. The AASRA Executive Board welcomes new Executive Board members-- Champa Bilwakesh, Charu Shri, Anu Subramanium, and Vinita Shah. We have expanded the stellar Advisory Board, who have expressed their firm commitment to support AASRA’s vision, and drive the implementation of the 2005-2006 Strategic Focus Areas. This joint effort, well supported by the services of the AASRA Partner Resources Directory will serve as the ideal launch-pad for all AASRA initiatives in 2005 and beyond.

AASRA joins forces with IMANE
AASRA was invited to present its core program to the Indian Medical Association of New England. IMANE has kindly extended its commitment to launch a regular Womens Health-Check Clinic at The AASRA Center. IMANE and AASRA will also b e collaborating on additional projects of interest to be announced shortly. Thanks to Dr. Purnima Sangal, and the IMANE Executive Committee.

AASRA 2005 Community Care Initiative
AASRA is launching its 2005 community-focused program of research, education, and action for South Asian Womens Welfare. The goal of this initiative is to enhance well-being awareness, and implement tactics for success. Key programs available immediately include:

AASRA 8 week Professional Weight Management Program
Licensed Professionals Dr. Sukanya Ray and Mithilesh Garg, address the underlying reasons for unhealthy weight gain, and share practical tools to successfully modify eating patterns.
Where: AASRA Center, Woburn
When: 8 consecutive Saturdays, starting from April 30, 2005, from 10.30 - 11.30 a.m.
Seats are limited; Hands-on, tailored program. Register early.

AASRA Mentorship Program
AASRA offers customized skill development, and self-paced learning/training program for women at The AASRA Center. Sessions are scheduled by appointment, conducted by AASRA Partner Resources, and address basic requirements for Resume-writing/Interviewing, Driving, Job/Small Business development. Please contact AASRA for sessions which start first week of every Month.
